This only my recommendation, you can use any colour, i have got MJ from almost all colour ,But we can select some specific colour according to our water condition. 1– Crystal Clear water – We can use natural colour for best results.

2- Muddy water -Use bright colours for better result.

3 .Sunny day – Use natural colours or reflecting colours

so our shrimp is ready let’s select other gears too for a big MJ

Leader Line

Harbour fishing, Fishing in rocky areas, Deep areas etc- Use 60+ Lb Fluro Carbon or 100-120 mm Nylon and use 1.5+ m length Rivers, Backwaters (less deep) etc- Use fluro or mono as you wish

Braided line

Use 35+ lb

Rod & Reel : Yours is the best one . Use that

we have selected the lure and loaded with all gears lets go fishing

Setting the Drag: If you are fishing in a Harbour especially in kerala use 70% drag othervise the fish will go where he wants and you will miss the fish. If you are fishing in plain areas with no risks, you can loosen the drag and adjust according to the fish pull.

When and Where

Early morning , Late evening and Night are generally considerd the best time for fishing. But we can plan according to tide condition and climate. Generally casting when the tides get rising or falling are good.

Mangrove Jack or Chembally usually seen on rocky dense areas or near bridges , near water current or around a fallen trees , or near any place they can hide and make an ambush to the preys. for example in an harbour we can surly expect mj around the rocky areas.

How to use Shrimp lure ?

after selecting our location we need to cast the lure, here it is shrimp lure. from my own experience slow retrieval is the best style for Mangrove Jack. after casting the lure waitt the lure to hit the bottom or the desired deep , after reaching there start retrieving very slovly . There is some tricks to get a strike. Pause and retrieve-in this thechnique we stop retrievel for a moment and start the reel , repeat the proceesss.Pause Retrieve & Twitch – Here we use twitching action while retreiving . you can try 1-3 twitches at once and so on. Changing the speed – Now you are mooving the lure very slovly , you can try various speed . changing the retrieving speed is good to get a strike. Making live actions– we can make live actions to the shrimp lure using the fishing rod. Theese are the common shrimp lure retrieving techniques that i am using .
